    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Instagram user, lolaystarfish, photographed her flu survival kit on January 10. She says she was vacationing in Florida when she caught the flu, spending more of her trip feeling sick. In order to overcome the flu, she packed her survival kit with medicine, cough drops, tea and other herbal treats. She says a home remedy that works for her is cooking an inch of raw ginger with two cloves of garlic and mixing the liquid with some lemon juice, and then drinking the concoction. 'Tastes awful, but it actually kills germs,' she said.
