Lost in the Tube
I visited London this summer, right on the cusp of the Olympics. It was a fantastic trip, full of plenty of fish and chips, Billy Elliot, and pub crawls. We took more than one trip on the Tube (though I continued to refer to it as the Subway) and got lost just a few times as well. The most memorable was a busy day when everyone was piled on the platform waiting for the train. As one pulled up I got ready to board, with the rest of my family ready beside me (or so I thought). As I clamored on and found my place with the rest of the crowd, I searched for my parents and brother, and a jolt of anxiousness ran through me as I realized they were not on the train.
Just as the doors slammed shut I turned around and saw them waiting on the platform, unaware that I had boarded the wrong train. I yelled "MOM!" and banged on the doors to try and get their attention but the train sped away.
It was a scary but exciting adventure and one that was over quickly as I caught the next train back to where my family was waiting.
