Gun control debate: Background checks |
We the People Conference Call with Bruce Reed, Cheif of Staff to the VP about Reducing Gun Violence.
The 1st question asked by a person was about why the media keeps playing the information about them instead of staying quiet.
I had the chance to show the group what you do not here at CNN, and then ask about the Presidents plan to use Executive Power , Mr. Reed said he won't but with the fact that this current administration has lied too much to be believed. What you do not show is when a family uses a weapon to defend themselves. A kid used his dad's AR15 to protect him and his sister from 2 intruders.
He went on to say Law Enforcement officers are asking for this, so how is Head officers in Wyoming getting a bill introduced to not follow these new laws in contimplation. Really? Sounds like a lie somewhere.
The guy after me asked about backround checks and proved the goverment is failing at the current laws.
Mr. Reed is trying to distort the facts. This is an on going problem. This is pathetic.
And this is on going. A lady who is a Family Law Practicing Lawyer had some good information and some valid points even tho she was kind of against guns but I agree people should be held accountable for kids using their guns to kill others. We as gun owners are responsible if our kids use them. However what are we to do if they are stolen. If I report it being stolen am I still responsible for it if I had done everything to prevent the theft?
I think this debate is never going to end.
In my opinion look at the place where most of the shootings happen, they happen where gun laws are more strict. And they happen in places where firearms/weapons are not allowed.
To protect schools Former President Clinton said put an Armed Guard or Police officer in every school. That was in the 90's. Yet last month when Wayne Lapiere said the same thing just last month he was called crazy. Why is when a Democrat who says it the idea is taken as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but when a Senior Member of the NRA says it people call for his death. This is a double standard that needs to stop. Bipartisanship is key to this.
A Federal Firearms Liscence holder, someone who can sell a firearm for commercial purposes, said that background checks are good. I agree that it can be a good thing and could help. This man also said he is scared of the Presidents words on this and Senator Feinstein. This scares him because the people who have no training are running out buying guns and are going to be the ones who cause the most shootings.
This tella conference just ended.
Gen McCrystal told a lie yesterday when he said that the .223/5.56mm round is exactly the same and is a bad round. It is not the same round. There are vast differences. However the fact that he is for a gun ban/restriction whatever you want to call it puts him in the class of liars, turn coats and traitors. If you raise your right hand and swear an oath to defend the constitution against all enemies and then agree to an infringement makes you a traitor. I used to respect that man. He has some great leadership qualities and was an awesome stratigest. However with the one statement he went from hero to zero.
My take on the whole gun debate is that the goverment caused the issue and the media has made it worse. Most people can't give you the names of 5 victims. But can rattle off the shooters name of most major shootings. Thats the medias fault.
I do not feel anymore talk is gonna change the course of anything. I think the president is going to do what he wants because he did it to pass his healthcare bill which nobody wanted. I stated in a privious piece that I was open to a national vote. Tell you the truth I am not. It is a god given right put to paper by our founding fathers to protect us from the goverment.
I hope the bill introduced in Wyoming passes and other states follow suit. Envoke the 10th Amendment to protect the 2nd. Make the Goverment do their job of enforcing the exsisiting laws.
As much as I hate the State of Californias gun laws, I like the every firearm transaction has to have a background check. It is a decent idea. That way you would be absolved of wrong doing if the firearm you sold ends up in the wrong hands. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON! To protect the seller from the buyers misdeeds.
I am a retired soldier. I know good people who have died defending the constitution in Iraq and Afganistan.
The fact is that guns save lives everyday. Start reporting that. Quit the mass shootings and show criminals to beware that people are armed and will defend themselves. I bet crime will drop even more.
