Activist tries to change the travel policies for pets of an Airline
Everything has been great with him, he is very clean and he is litter trained; I let him free around the apartment and he follows me wherever I go; he sleeps with me and he comes when I call him, he is like a little silent puppy.
The problem is that I’m going to move to Montreal this year and of course I want to take my little friend with me; he is much more than a pet, he is my family. He is very used to me and I don’t have anyone to leave him with in Mexico. But, in order to bring him to Canada, the law states that I must travel with him on the same flight, and there is where my real problems start: the only airline that goes from Mexico City to Montreal is Aeromexico, and they do not allow rabbits to flight either in the cabin or with the luggage. But Aeromexico recently gave a great step allowing cats and dogs to travel with their people, so I can’t understand why not rabbits too. Rabbits don’t pee in stressful situations, they are quieter and calmer than cats and dogs, and it is physiologically impossible for them to vomit. There are other airlines like Copa and United Airlines that allow rabbits in cabin, but I can’t find a non-scale flight with them, and a long trip with many plane changing could be very stressful and dangerous for him.
These are the reasons why I want to Ask Aeromexico to reconsider their pet policy and allow rabbits to travel with their people. I need to be with my family, and I want that chance for other people as well. Nowadays there are more people with “alternative pets” that deserve the chance to travel with them.
I have started a petition and it has quite some signatures now, but that is not enough, I also want to reach more people, to make them see that other people have non-conventional pets, and that they deserve the same rights.

Thank you for signing this petition and for making this story public. I think we can make a change, and I think we can succeed.
