I wrote Twenty Angels with aloha (love) for the kids, teachers, families and community of Newtown, Connecticut. I had pretty much finished the song but realized the chorus needed something more. Then I saw Anderson Cooper's interview with the parents of Grace McDonnell -- I was blown away by the love and peace in the parents' hearts as well as in their daughter's. And I was transfixed by the little girl's wonderful artwork, especially her painting of a fish. That night I dreamt of Grace’s artwork and saw that fish -- and the line "Fingerpaint in the sky" came to me. I got right up at 4:00am and wrote it down, along with the remainder of the chorus.
Please do something to stop the madness! Whether it's praying, political activism, donations, you name it. One option is to donate to United Way of Western Connecticut, as I have done. From their site, note the following:
United Way of Western Connecticut, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is serving as the fiduciary for the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. All donations to this fund are tax deductible to fullest extend of the law. United Way of Western Connecticut will only apply external credit card processing fees to any donations received for the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. There will be no United Way management fees attached to any donations for the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.

Aloha and Mahalo,
Doctor Paul
Twenty Angels
Am Dm E
This world of madness
Am
Failed them all
Dm E
Flags at half-mast
Am
A deathly pall
Mighty speeches
And tearful eulogies
But nothing changes
In the land of insanity
Am G
There's twenty angels
G7 Am
In heaven above
Am G
Torn from us
G7 Am
Now wrapped-in God's love
When the sun goes down--
Finger paint in the sky
Reminds us again
It's time to cry
Twenty little coffins
All in a row
And all those parents
Want to know
But we just tell them
These things happen
Cuz the price of freedom
Is paid with guns
CHORUS
Twenty new stars
In the sky at night
Shining with their teachers
Giving us light
So what about
The kids still here
Time to shout
No more fear!
CHORUS
F G Em Am
Charlotte, Daniel, Olivia, Josephine,
Ana, Dylan, Madeline, Catherine,
Chase, James, Jesse, Benjamin
Emilie, Jack, Noah, Caroline,
Grace, Jessica, Avielle, Allison
We let you down
But never again
You have not
Died in vain
CHORUS
