Istanbul not Constantinople
I had the blessing of traveling abroad during the summer before my senior year in college at Michigan State University. As an international relations and business major, I had been anticipating traveling overseas for several years. It was that summer that I finally had my chance to see the middle eastern, yet highly-westernized country of Turkey and all its beauty and national complexities. We had 4 weeks of studying politics and economics, indulging in different foods and beverages, immersing ourself in the Turkish culture and visiting as many attractions as possible. I had the time of my life seeing the capital city Ankara, exploring underground cities and tasting the phenonemal wines in ancient Cappadocia, hitting the Mediterranean beaches of Antalya, and galavanting through the ever-infamous Istanbul. It is a time and a special place I will never forget.
