I moved to China in April 2010 initially for work. I attempted to become part of Chinese society by making friends with local people and participating in activities with Chinese people. I did not make non-Chinese friends for my first several months. After more than half a year I switched my strategy and included non-Chinese people into my world because the differences were too vast for me. I was raised in southeast Texas and the lifestyle of most native Chinese people is too different for me to participate in everyday of my life. I had to re-learn so many different things in order to attempt to fit in with local people in Beijing. The adventure, challenge, and experiences with and are priceless.
