It has occurred to me intermittently that I have not paid homage to the women and men of the United States Armed Forces. This tribute to the most honorable among us remains tied to my tongue – not because I do not revere them; I just cannot find deserving words. There is nothing I have for them but my sincerest respect; they make me proud to be human; they embody the greatest promise of freedom and liberty, equity and plurality. I am humbled by their valor and sacrifice – they keep us safe so we can live our dreams. I see no greater emissaries of all the good that remains in our world.

Thank you, my brother, my sister, my blood.
