In 31 months in China I experienced many new things. One exciting part of being in a capital city in a quickly growing country is the ability to meet interesting people. One night I walked into a bar and met Chris Dodd, a retired U.S. senator from Connecticut. We talked as though we were old friends. We both had people and a country in common and we were both so far away from home. It felt very natural. Another evening at dinner I saw Tony Blair and took a photo with him. Another evening I attended a fashion event with Giorgio Armani and shook his hand. Another time I met a world famous model, Natalia Vocianova from Russia, presently living in London. We exchanged pleasantries as well. We had the common fact that we were foreigners in a foreign land. At Christmas time 2012 I took a photo with a sitting member of British parliament. I like the political folks. Daily I meet many different and exciting new folks from across the world. One Sunday morning I enjoyed brunch with six friends and all seven of us represented seven different countries. I can not think of another place where the ease of meeting so many different people is so simple. I look forward to what the future holds.
