Military Concerns -My number one concern for the United States is the enormous military budget and our change from a protective military to an aggressive military force. Related to this is the undue influence the petrochemical industry has in setting military objectives and ongoing interference by the CIA in fomenting conflict everywhere in the world for the profit of private companies. This is not a new situation but it seems to have escalated to incredible proportions since the "9/11" incident. I believe in a strong military for protection, for help and support of human crisis and need both at home and abroad but I cannot accept the United States as an aggressor nation and deplore the fact that human need at home is ignored while we continue to be destructive in the global arena. The best resource any nation can have is a healthy, well educated, contributing (working, self supporting) population. Why are we the only industrialized nation that does not understand this? I want President Obama to scale back the budget AND political power of the military and stop allowing them and the media to drive American people with fear. We need to make choices for things we believe in, change to move toward goals, not out of fear. I would like to see all relationships based on respect and trust. I would like to be a citizen of the Earth. I love my country, to which my Italian grandparent came with their young families to be apart of this wonderful country, ut as I travel around the world I see that peopleare all the same, and all deserve to have the basic needs nd comforts of life. Please, President Obama, make the United States a nation of peace.
