My son joined the USMC straight out of high school. He left for boot camp at Parris Island the morning after he graduated high school. While all his friends were headed to senior week at the beach, he was headed to begin his destiny of becoming a Marine. From the time he could talk he expressed his love for the Marines. He joined ROTC as soon as he could, and joined the early enlistment program as soon as he turned 17. After boot camp, he was sent to Hawaii to join the 1/3 Weapons Company as a machine gunner at the age of 18. He turned 19 in Hawaii, and directly after was sent to Afghanistan for his first deployment. He turned 20 in Hawaii after returning home safely from the first deployment. He just started his second deployment in Okinawa, Japan, where he celebrated his 21st birthday in early January. He is now LCpl Brett Good, and he is my hero beyond words. The men he serves with are extraordinary, and they are truly a family of brothers. I would like to give a big oooorah to my son LCpl Good and 1/3 Weapons Company, along with the entire 1st Bn 3rd Mar Division. God Bless you all Lave Dogs!!
