Icicles in Las Vegas!
- dsashin, CNN iReport producer
I just came back from a show in Las Vegas, and I saw this unusual scene outside my hotel. It is only 24 degrees right now. This is extremely rare for Vegas. There are icicles all over.
I can hardly see anyone out on the streets, and many tourists have been surprised by this unusually cold weather in the otherwise very comfortable Vegas climate. Some of them have been spotted wearing blankets from local hotels.
This cold spell is highly unusual, and there is a "hard freeze" warning in effect until tomorrow at 9 a. m. I just heard that the temperatures are 20 degrees below the average for this time of year. I am wearing many layers of clothing, but it still feels as if I were back in the Arctic. It is bitterly cold, with a bad wind chill as well. I am so very sorry for the homeless people. They are helpless against this bitter cold. To see them to shiver covered only with raggedy, torn to shred garments is such a heartbreaking sight.
