    Why I Still Wear My LiveStrong Bracelet

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     lnr618 says, 'You are looking at my right wrist with my LiveStrong bracelet on. I have been wearing a LiveStrong ever since they were released in '04 and I will continue to wear mine. Despite the controversy surrounding Lance Armstrong, people still support the LiveStrong brand because it has done tremendous things with regards to cancer research and awareness.'

    She went on to say, 'My LiveStrong bracelet broke a few weeks ago and my mom looked at me like I was crazy when I told her that I was going to buy another one to wear. She did not understand why I would support a cheater. Many people have strong opinions about Lance Armstrong, but I think that they need to separate the founder of LiveStrong from the brand of LiveStrong because the brand itself has grown to be so much more than Lance.'

    I have been wearing my LiveStrong bracelet since they were first released in 2004. A couple weeks ago, mine broke and my mom looked at me like I was crazy for going out and buying a new one (it was also difficult to find one because many stores stopped selling them). "Why don't you just wear an American Cancer Society bracelet?" she asked. But to be honest, Lance Armstrong's alleged (and apparently confessed) cheating has not and will not affect my opinion of the LiveStrong brand. I think "Live Strong" just has such a great meaning and it reminds me of my grandfather's difficult fight with the disease. I still proudly wear my bracelet and I will defend it to anyone who asks me why I support a cheater (I do not, actually. I support a brand that has done tremendous things for the fight against cancer).
