Virtual Equinox Festival Fires Up the Crowd

Disc jockeys stoked the crowd at the Equinox Festival and bonfire ritual held Saturday evening on Happy Clam Island at Organica, a goa and psychedelic trance community. Attendees expressed their "creative spirit" in costume, unique avatars and many hours in-world. The event concluded with the burning of a large male effigy. The virtual world observance has some similarities to a real life festival held annually in the Black Rock Desert, in Northern Nevada. "We have nothing to do, no connection at all with Burning Man," stated thomtrance Otoole, founder of Happy Clam Island. "Our solar festivals emulate the film The Wicker Man." Happy Clam Island holds its event four times a year, and started its celebration in the Spring of 2007. Images: Caption #1: DJ Qee Nishi rocks and parties hard while wearing her flaming outfit.
