Obama’s next four years |
Leadership #1 Necessity for Next 4 Years
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
On Sunday, President Barack Obama will be sworn in for a second term. What I see most needed over the next 4 years is leadership. The President must find a way to work with Congress. Leadership is not always getting your way. Look at Lincoln holding together the Union in spite of fierce opposition in Congress. Look at Clinton with the combative Newt Gingrich. Both Presidents lead. Both Presidents navigated the boardroom with finesse. This has been lacking in Obama's 1st term and is a necessity for survival of the nation.
The above was my contribution for a CNN iReport assignment. I flesh it out a bit below.
From the Cornfield, Mr. President it is time to step out front and find a way to lead not just your own party, but also the loyal opposition. Leadership is not dictating what will be, but rather sitting down with those who must be won over and finding a way through the ideological and philosophical forest to a clearing, a glade where common ground for the common good may be found.
