African Eyes
In November, the band I work for was on tour in South Africa. On a day off, we visited a school in the very poor and dangerous area of Cape Town called Guguletu to plant trees. We were greeted by the most amazing and beautiful school children I've ever seen. They were amazed by our cell phones and cameras and wanted to see, touch, and use them. We allowed them to take our phones, ipods, cameras, and take photos all day. When I got back to my hotel room, I was shocked when I unloaded the photos from my memory card. The 11 year old boy who had my camera the whole day had taken some amazing photos. This photo stood out, and when I saw it, I got chills down my spine. This photo is completely uncropped and unedited. It was taken right off my memory card. The eyes belong to the boy who took the photo.
