Police are this afternoon interviewing 6 kids in relation to a home invasion, assualt, car chase and arson which caused a bushfire which threatened homes and businesses around Hillman in Rockingham, Western Australia.

Their crime spree began last night south of Perth in East Victoria Park with a home invasion and robbery, stealing cars along the way, then further south to Seville Grove where they assaulted a paper deliverer, leaving him with a bloodied bust up face, From there they were chased by police from the ground and from the air, ending up dumping their stolen car in bushland in Hillman, Rockingham.  They then tourched the car and the bushfire quickly took hold.

The bushfire was declared out of control and many Fire Crews, Heli-Tacs and Water Bombing planes tackled the fire. The fire is now under control and is expected to be extinguished in a few hours. Fire crews remain in the area mopping up.

One of the boys that set the fire was arrested at the scene while another fled.

Dixon Road is still blocked off to traffic and pedestrians.

A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in the eastern part of Hillman in the City of Rockingham.

The fire is burning in an area bounded by Dixon Road, Darile Road and Lawson Road.
There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

ROAD CLOSURES:
Some roads have been reopened, these include:
• Mandurah Road
• Day Road
One road remains closed:
• Dixon Road between Mandurah Road and Day Road.

Motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.
