    Making it in America: Mompreneurs

Houston Woman Follows Big Dream of Going Green, Upcycling & DIY

After the loss of her mother and brother, during her first year of college- Tamika Fletcher followed her dreams of entrepreneurship. She created a beauty line, made of 100% natural ingredients from her very own kitchen. In 2012, she was recognized as a pioneer in black beauty by Essence.com.

Tamika also refurbished an old insurance office in Houston to create a Green Salon, Natural Resources made of eco-friendly products and offering a refill &recycling station for customers. They save money when they refill old product jars.

The story can include background on how Tamika was inspired by her Great Aunt & Mother to start creating beauty products, home decor and fashion accessories from scratch.

Tamika's now known worldwide for her DIY projects ranging from upcycling paper, clothes, accessories and more! She is now on a mission to educate the public on being green through creative uses of old material, product and even food.

Tamika's story is a huge inspiration to women around the world and my hope is that she can continue to share it. See the attachments for some of the social media testimonials and accolades Tamika receives daily. Please let me know your thoughts- I'd be happy to work with a local station on arranging a satellite interview.
