This iReport is part of an assignment:
Wintry weather |
Powerless Night
The snow started coming down fast here on the outer edges of SW Roanoke County, around 2:30pm. By 5pm we had over an inch on the ground and no power. A top number of those without power in the county was at almost 50,000, with, at last check earlier today, 6600 still out. That includes me. The peak number of outages according to ApCo's site, was 123,000, for the state.
My kids have made the best of it, and luckily my mechanic whiz of a husband resurrected our hand-me-down generator not that long ago! While the snow was beautiful today, I am counting down to spring already!
