Bill Clinton Speaks on Gun Control 1-19-2013
Bill Clinton spoke to a group of about 300 of us.
Bill Clinton focused on why the Democrats were successful in the 2013 Presidential election and spent a great deal of time discussing gun control and the issues which can into play when his administration dealt with this issue.
Mr. Clinton made a point that in the gun control debate our elected politicians need to deal with the concerns of the people, not demonize the people who do not want gun control and try and reach a compromise on the issue. He told a story about when he pushed gun control and received a lot of heat from his supporters his great uncle reminded Bill that these people will probably never go on a vacation and hunting and fishing was probably their only recreation. His ability to deal in simple explanations of important issues took me back to an era when it seemed like the country got a lot more done from our elected officials.
