    News Helicopter Crashes in Western Australia

     

    The Channel Ten News Helicopter has crashed in Baskerville near Perth in Western Australia.

    The Pilot and Cameraman have escaped and are being treated by Paramedics.  Just as the helicopter was rolling on its side, the camera man managed to take off his harness and jump clear.

    The chopper is on its side and the tail has snapped off,. Fire crews quickly rushed to the scene. The chopper is being doused with foam.

    The turbines were still running for some time after the crash.

    The news chopper was in the area filming a traffic accident in which people were trapped.

    This is the second time Channel 10's chopper has crashed in Western Australia. Last time Tens chopper was involved in an accident was when it ran out of fuel before touchdown at Tens Dianella Studios. That accident was blamed on pilot error.

    The Ten News Cameraman, Adam, has been taken to hospital with spinal injuries.
    The Pilot is still being treated by paramedics at the scene.

    The fire has been extinguished.

     

    An eye witness said "It looks like chopper lost power and fell to the ground, the blade hit the  ground flipping the cabin."

    The cameraman is in hospital having his spinal injuries assesed and the Pilot is uninjured.

     

    The chopper was leaking fuel and police have cordoned off the scene due to the threat of an explosion.

     

    Air Safety Inspectors are now on the scene.

    Ten News Cameraman Adam Delmage is now being released from hospital and is fine.  Hes going home to spend time with his family.
