I am Afghan and i raised in a Pashtun family in Pakistan. We were taught in childhood from elders that girls should not go to schools for education because it was considered against our egos. So i did not allowed my sister to get education and she remained illiterate. She is now mother of 3 here in UK and she is facing enormous problems of communication and reading of letters. I now realised that educating girls was not against our egos but mere an old sick tradition of suppressing girls and women. Most of Afghans still believe the same thing in this modern world.

So i now realised my sister problems and i really feel embarrassed.

I now started to send my nieces to schools and i do not wanted to repeat my wrong doings again and i request every one to give women their right of education.
