Paris snow storm pix
My tour guide (an American who has lived here for 15 years) says she has never seen this much snow fall so quickly on Paris. I estimate 4 to 6 inches fell between Friday night and Sunday morning... and from what I can understand from the local TV forecast, more is on the way.
I took these photos Saturday 1/19 & Sunday 1/20/2013 with my iPhone4, mostly in the Montmartre neighborhood. The mood was pretty electric. It was clear that the locals were loving the snow. Lots of young kids and their parents out sledding and throwing snowballs. Other young people were skiing and snowboarding down the streets where he hills were steep enough. Many, many couples, holding hands and just checking out how the city had been transformed by the blanket of white.
Some monuments were closed (or example, we were not able to go to the top of the Arc de Triomphe) and busses were not running due to the snow, but the city seemed otherwise unaffected. All the trains I rode were operating and on time, and power was not affected.
