    Girls + Education: Your message

    Studying in Kerala india

Even though I am an Indian girl I was raised by parents who wanted to give me the best in life on par with my brother.i studied we'll and got admission to medical school when my parents had to spend large amounts for me they faced huge resistance from my grandparents and my fathers brothers and their aunt even advised me against going to med school since I wouldn't get a job according to her.however I went ahead and joined medical school intamil Nandu India.travelling from college and hospital to where I lived was a constant struggle on the public transport system since my shifts were sometimes at nights and I used to be so scared of been raped hence I used to always wear a white lab coat thinking that at least people would think I am n intern and wouldn't hurt me(a foolish thought).once I was cornered by two guys on a bike who told me to come with them by gods grace I was able to quickly run away .many times I was touched or fondled on buses many of my friends had similar experiences.however no one mentions them because in our culture if a girl tells anyone this she s considered a bad woman and she can't be married off .we all follow the arranged marriage system and girls are supposed to be spotless when they get married.kerala is the most educated if our situation is like this I can't imagine how the rest of India would be like.thankfully I was able to complete my education without a serious incident due to constant prayers to my Jesus to be with me wherever I went.
