    Ensyo temple’s Benzaiten festival

Do you have any festival memories? There is one which I look forward to every year since the time I was young. This festival is sacred to a god as “Benzaiten”, a goddess who administers intelligence and appearance. Ensyo temple is famous for “Ema”: a votive picture tablet of a horse. There are over 100 Ema created by first-class artists in the main building of the temple. They are open to the general public on the day of the festival, and it is a precious opportunity. Lotus flowers which appear on a pond are another famous site. Many people visited this temple in because they may see this flower from June to August. Many people visit stalls that sell octopus flitters, crepes, fried chicken and so on.

When I was an elementary school student, I went to this festival for the first time. My grandparents gave me an allowance, so I frolicked. I still go to the festival now that I am a college student, because I can meet friends there. The temple bustles with many worshipers. A lot of people write what they would like to achieve in the coming year an Ema, and I did the same. If you go to this festival, what would you write you’re an Ema?
