    Repurposing for Winter

Christmas lights are repurposed to protect delicate citrus growth in Central Florida. This young 'fruit cocktail tree' is draped in non-LED lights to provide warmth on freezing nights.

This tree has various species of citrus bud grafted onto a strong rootstock. The blooms and new growth shown here are of a Meyer lemon graft. Adjacent to the lemon branches are pink grapefruit, lime, Tangelo, Valencia, and other species and varieties of citrus.

Last winter the owner forgot to wrap the tree, therefor freeze damage killed the naval orange limb.
