    What are you watching?

    A barkless Dog

My name is Totchi, four years old. I was lost during New Year’s Eve. I was so scared Firecrackers were everywhere. I kept on running and hiding until Karen found me. Karen offered her garage to me. I did not know what to do. I was really scared and felt uneasy. I escaped and ran. I searched for a safe place but it was New Year's Eve. I was lost. I went back to the garage and Karen gave me a simple media noche. I felt relieved and I let her near me and pet me. I stayed overnight and Karen reported me to PALS because she saw my neck.

My neck had a hole. I lost a part of my trachea over a year ago. My nose is useless as it can no longer filter the air that I am breathing. My unsupervised human kids put a straw around my neck and forgot to remove it as I grow up. My human family cannot afford to bring me to a doctor. They managed to remove the straw, but it was a bit too late because my skin grew around the straw and when they pulled out the straw, a part of my trachea was removed. I was "de-barked".

Karen and her mom found out what happened to me after a few hours of searching for my master. I was able to go home. Admin Mariel Alejandro and Head Rescuer Francis Rivares went to my place on January 2, 2013 and talked to them. They cannot afford to have my open neck fixed since my master is a single working mom and I only stay with two elementary kids at home. I know they loved me. They just want what is the best for me. They gave me to PALS.

I am here now at PALS partner vet clinic making me healthy and ready for my reconstructive surgery. I want to use my nose again so that I will live longer. I want to bark loudly again so that I can warn my future master if there will be a bad guy outside. If you know someone who can donate a trachea, please help me , let them know I am badly need of it to complete my reconstructive surgery.

I know the whole process will cost a lot, so please help me. I want to be a normal dog again.
