Will Misee Harris Be the First Black Bachelorette?

    Dr. Misee Louise Harris

What is going on over at the ABC network? Recently the Internet was all abuzz about the four black women on "The Bachelor" and now we have our own candidate for "The Bachelorette". Dr. Misee Harris has the beauty and brains to send the best contenders out there home packing. I just hope ABC Bachelorette producers see it.

Now what about the swirl factor? The ABC reality hit series will most likely have an overwhelmingly bevy of white male rivals wanting the hand of whoever the Bachelorette is. I see a ratings windfall for those who hate as well as those who love it. At the end of the day, I just want to see Dr. Harris in the top spot with the man who ends up being her husband. He will be the real winner.

After 25 seasons on the air, ABC's reality dating game show, "The Bachelor/Bachelorette" has managed to fulfill a void for various eligible contestants. However, to the disappointment of many fans, the show's lack of diversity has raised questions as to why there has never been a non-white bachelor/bachelorette? Well look no further, Lexington, Kentucky pediatric dentist, Dr. Misee Harris, is vying to become the show's first African American hopeful in the leading role.

Dr. Harris is a graduate of Columbia Central High School. She continued her education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, earning a B.S. Degree in Biology. But that wasn't enough, she then completed her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree at the University of Kentucky and is completing a residency in Pediatric Dentistry. When she's not making rounds at the hospital, Dr. Harris enjoys thrift shopping, making jewelry, modeling, and watching reality television (of course). In addition, Dr. Harris is kept quite busy entertaining her 4-year-old Brittany Spaniel, Grace.

This is a wonderful example for all Black women of all ages, especially Black girls. More positive role models need to be seen by this group; and Dr. Harris is a wonderful example of the wonderful accomplishments a young Black woman can make who has talent, smarts as well as beauty.

This small town girl has her eyes set on Hollywood. You can follow Dr. Harris' journey on Facebook (Misee Harris 4 The Black Bachelorette), Twitter (@MiseeHarris), and Instagram (@miseeharris).

Good luck to you Dr. Harris!
