Fighting "Cancer with . . . JOY"
I'm Joy. I was diagnosed with cancer -- stage 4 -- at the young age of just 33 years young. Yeeg! I fought using humor & positivity while going through 18 hard-hitting chemo. treatments. What did it hurt me being positive & I believe whole-heartedly it helped -- mind over matter!!
An example? I suffered the complete loss of my shoulder-length hair in 6 weeks . . . hard when you're single & dating huh!
I ordered wigs of different colors, lengths, and styles and "modeled" these having my Mom take pictures I can share on TV. We put them all on Facebook & held an "Online Facebook Fashion Show" which was AWESOME! My friends, scattered all over - liked & commented bringing me support, encouragement, and I felt JOY! Hair loss was actually fun - we transformed the experience from what was the MOST emotionally PAINFUL moment otherwise!
I wrote a book called "Cancer with JOY," published by Morgan James Publishing of NYC, and I have Secrets of Happy Cancer Patients to share on HLN to help the 1,500,000+ diagnosed with cancer EVERY yr. in the U.S. fight "Cancer with JOY!" This is unique because of the double meaning behind it.
My message is, "No one is happy they have cancer! But You CAN have cancer & still be Happy!" I speak to standing ovations telling this hair loss story & reading other's stories from my book . . .
