    Jakarta is swimming

The capital city of Jakarta is being hit by rain and flood. The flood is happening due to a number of reasons, including lack of proper infrastructure to counter the high volume of rain, and a flow of downstream water from higher places such as Bogor (about 60km south of Jakarta, more than 2,000 meters higher).

The flood has claimed several casualties and forces many residents to leave their houses. The city's governor, Joko Widodo, is taking serious measures to quickly solve the problem, ranging from fixing the water gates, and evacuating victims in the promptest manner.

Jakarta is a city with around 8 million permanent residents, however it boasts some 15 million during working hours, which often congests the city. During the flood, all activities are put to hold, including politics and the economy.
