Please feel free to share our experience with anyone, as this may well effect other groups travelling from other countries and we need to find a resolution.

I have posted a ‘secret’ page on the website outlining the issues.

    Subject: BYS & CNSJ

Hello to everyone who has been involved in supporting the efforts of the Bequia Youth Sailors to get a team up to the CNSJ 2013 International Regatta next week.

Unfortunately, the US Embassy have declined two of the four visa applications, these two being Oreakay & Reon who were to enter the Advanced class. Of the remaining two visa’s that have been granted, for Drew & Orion, at least one will not be with us in time to get them to Puerto Rico, and quite possibly both.

It is with great disappointment that we have to withdraw our team from the regatta.

I would like to express our sincere thanks to all of you for supporting us and trying to get us up to Puerto Rico, including all those we don’t even know about: Thank You for your efforts.

It seems that when applying to the US Embassy for visa’s for children travelling un-accompanied by their parents, that all common sense goes out the window, no compassion or understanding is shown and we will have to re-visit this for future events.

BYS hope to take part in other International Regatta’s as and when they come up and we are able to overcome the visa hurdles, and we hope to see/meet you all out there at some point. If any of you are ever in the vicinity of the Grenadines, please pop into Bequia and came and say ‘Hi’, it would be a pleasure to meet you.

Many thanks once again for your support
