It's Time to SWOT Your BABI's!

It’s that time of year again when you need to SWOT your BABI’s whether you believe they need it or not.

That’s right! It’s time to get a good look at what happened last year and let your BABI's know how you feel about them.

Okay, what am I going on about here? Who are your BABI’s?

    Your Bank
    Your Attorney
    Your Bookkeeper
    Your Insurance Agent

So what’s with the SWOT? A SWOT analysis is looking at each one of your BABI’s and evaluating the following:

    Strength
    Weakness
    Opportunity
    Threat

So why do your BABI’s need a good SWOT?

1…BABI’s tend to get LAZY without your supervision.
2…BABI’s typically engage when THEY need something.
3…BABI’s don’t have to COMPETE for your attention.
    4…BABI’s really do need DISCIPLINE.

You should SWOT your BABI’s annually to determine if you are getting the best possible service for the money. If you only hear from then when THEY need something, you need to SWOT them immediately and determine if they are a good fit for your business.

Your BABI’s should be supportive of your business. They should be engaged enough to know what you do and how best to help your company grow or maintain a solid foothold.

Some things your BABI’s should be doing:

1…Investing time to understand your business needs.
2…Referring your company to other businesses.
    3…Inviting you to sponsored events.
4…Offering you referral discounts or credits.
5…Provide cooperative marketing products or services.
    5…Creating professional development opportunities.

Get in the practice of giving your BABI’s a good SWOT at least once a year. This will keep them on their toes in supporting your business. It will also let them know who’s the boss.

You can find more information on how to complete a SWOT analysis online. Many websites provide different strategies and measurement methods to get the most out of your effort.
