Free Body Pump Workout at Local YMCA

Those interested in firming up their arms, chest, and bottoms for 2013 should listen up. The Alfred Campanelli YMCA in Schaumburg, Ill., is holding a BODYPUMP open house Saturday, February 2. The 60-minute session is free to the public and begins at 9:00 a.m. If you’ve never done BODY PUMP before, it’s guaranteed to make your knees tremble and your arms to shake at the end of the session.
BODYPUMP™ is a LES MILLS™ workout that combines anaerobic moves with barbells. Unlike traditional strength workouts that use heavy weights, the BODYPUMP program uses lighter weights at and repetition. The workout accelerates the heart rate and burns approximately 560 calories per class. The workout is carefully choreographed to music and the instructors guide the class through each set of repetitions.
For those who think this is just for the young and buff at heart, the YMCA’s BODYPUMP class attracts, new mothers, grandmothers, and former couch potatoes. Once they start, “body pumpers,” as they call themselves, become loyal followers coming to the YMCA approximately 3 times a week for the workouts.
Everyone can attend the open house and try the program for free. Raffle prizes will also be given away, including Gym Bag, Les Mills Yoga Mat, 1 Free Hour of Personal Training, 1 Free Month of Fit Plus Exercise Upgrade.
Alfred Campanelli YMCA is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Formerly known as the Twinbrook Family YMCA, the organization provides vital programs and services to the northwest suburban communities of Chicago. Established in 1967, it was chartered as an independent YMCA, and in 2001 it became the Alfred Campanelli YMCA. Today, the organization serves over 9,000 members and program participants annually with programs for preschool children, youth, teens, adults, families, and senior citizens.
Financial assistance is made available for YMCA membership and programs through the YMCA to individuals
and families who substantiate need. Alfred Campanelli YMCA is located at 300 W. Wise Road in Schaumburg.
