Philippines Immigration scandals
Where to start with this crazy place called Philippines Immigration. My story started Friday January 25, 2013 with this money making machine in the Philippines. I was told to pay 56,000 pesos for overstaying with my family, so I told the officer at the counter that I will be back on Monday to pay and get my family passports stamped for the visas and various fees. I was ok with the charges because it was expected to be that high for overstaying. On January 28, I came to immigration like I said I would, but now instead of paying 56,000 pesos the fees jumped up another 15,000 pesos bringing my told to 71,000 pesos. Wow, so when asked why the fees were so high I was told that computer made a mistake on Friday so the fees were wrong. So I paid for the fees like a good American but the Philippines isn't anything but nice. I was told that my two older kids passports needed to be cleared to leave. Remind you my kids are only 5 and 7. To be cleared the have to get a affidavit saying that there leaving the Philippines and the had to be finger printed. So on Tuesday January 29 I brought my two kids to the immigration office at 4am in the morning, Immigration open at 7am. So I went thru the process with one son and went ok besides the fingerprint part. I asked the immigration officer doing the fingerprinting why they had to do this, I was that it was just in case if they committed a crime before they flew, immigration would catch them when they try to enter the Philippines again. Once again my kids are only 5 and 7. What crime could a 5 and 7 year old do to be arrested. I'm still here now waiting for my other sons passport that has been on the commissioner desk since 8am this morning. Forgot to mention the have you pay for a ACR card which you pay for today because the say it monitory but once you get the card you have to take it the ACR cancellation line to cancel it. So why is it monitory? Don't ask me. My fees are listed below for my family enjoy. Stay the hell out of the Philippines. One more thing AC comes on when it wants too and my son was sick already with fever.
