Raging fire in Western Cape of South Africa

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     BronwenSmith, a professional photographer, lives on a farm just outside Paarl in the western cape of South Africa. She shot this photo from outside her bedroom window Monday night of a raging fire on the mountainside of Franschoek, the country's wine region. As of January 29, residents of two farms were evacuated, according to news reports, and a fire department official said properties and lives were in danger. It is currently 99 degrees Fahrenheit.
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

An out of control fire that allegedly started in a squatter camp on the mountainside of Franschoek around 4pm yesterday is raging out of control. There are a few very large housing estates in serious danger and the howling gale has not let up for an instant and all the roads around the estate are closed. The fire is now burning on one of the estates and the residents are unable to leave as the only road has been closed.
