Naturalized citizens: Your thoughts on immigration reform

    RE: Looking for info...

I am a Canadian citizen who was naturalized last September along with my family. I was fortunate to be transferred by my Canadian company to the DC area almost 19 years ago. I was then hired by an American company and given the opportunity to obtain a green card. Once we had that it was just a matter of time and money before we were allowed to become citizens. All in all we are talking about $15,000 over 10 years.

I was lucky...I had the resources, a skill and the money to allow this to happen. Not everyone is as fortunate as I am and since this is a country of immigrants, I think it only natural to give those who are less fortunate an opportunity. However, they should follow the law of the land.
