    Life in China

    Life in China

Having lived in China for several years now, I can appreciate the differences in western vs. eastern lifestyles. Everyday, I can expect a new adventure here. I currently live in Beijing but also lived in GuangZhou and Chong Qing. The differences in North and South China are significant. The food is different and even the Mandarin dialect is different.
In the south I found rice to be more of a staple and in the north, wheat based, i.e. noodles.
I enjoy learning about the culture and am looking forward to Spring Festival which is always quite an experience. I enjoy the Lion Dance the most and in GuangZhou it was performed almost everywhere.
The culinary experience is always a remarkable experience if you are daring. Yesterday it was spicy duck necks and spicy duck intestines. Today fish, sauteed vegetables and red bean cakes.
For the faint of heart there is always McDonalds and KFC.
