Storm Brings Major Flooding to Western NC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Appalachian State University student appstate13 captured dramatic footage of flooding in Boone, North Carolina, around 6 p.m. tonight. Kraut Creek, which runs though the campus, overflowed onto Highway 321. 'People were driving down the middle of the road to avoid being swept away by the fast moving water,' he said. 'I was shocked to see this amount of flooding. I have never seen weather like this in my entire life. I was also very surprised to see that Appalachian State cancelled all classes this evening due to the rain.'

'Due to this weather, I have not been able to travel at all this evening. Most of the roads around here are to the point of impassible. Fortunately my apartment has not been affected but apartments close to campus are being evacuated and shelters are being set up across town.'
