    A Majestic Pavilion

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     U.S. expat JimCA2 captured these images of preparations for the cremation of Cambodia's beloved late former king, Norodom Sihanouk, who died in October last year. Millions of Cambodians are expected to attend a procession on Friday ahead of his cremation on February 4th. The funeral pyre is currently being built in gardens in front of Cambodia's national museum. "It is not often a king dies and one gets to witness events coinciding with his death," he said.

The former King of Cambodia Norodom Sihanouk died on October 15, 2012 and since then there has been a lot of man hours spent by Cambodian craftsmen to build a cremation pavilion fit for a king. Work began in an open lot in front of the National Museum and has continued from dawn well into the evening over the last few month to ensure its completion for the cremation to be held on February 4th. The Veal Preah Mehru has its tradition originating from Brahman and Buddhist practices. Phnom Penh is expecting over a million people to arrive to the capital to observe a funeral procession on the first of February, and pay their last respects to the former king, and be in the city during the cremation.
