This iReport is part of an assignment:
Severe weather |
Thailand torrential storm
- dsashin, CNN iReport producer
What was suppose to be a quiet dinner during out on the town in a new contry turns out to be one of the more memorable travel experiences of a lifetime.
While traveling through Asia, I made my way to Thailand to visit friends and get caught up on some badly needed rest and relaxation. I'd never been to Thailand and simply wasn't aware the weather could be so extreme in 'quiet' Chiang Mai. One minute it was a very pleasant evening and perfect for dining outside while just a few minutes later complete weather chaos was to break lose!
The restaurant had already moved everyone inside when the wind and rain really began to pick up but I decided to stick with it, filming the experience on my camera. It turned out to be one of the most extreme weather changes I have ever witnessed and left several people and staff in the restaurant visibly shaken.
As a photographer from Seattle - Im use to shooting in the rain, but this was one for the record books that left me and my faithful Thai waiter (and new camera assistant!) soaked to the bone.
