Stop the Mass Squirrel Killing Sponsored by Holley, NY Fire Department

In a world strangled by gun violence and senseless killings, we continuously try to find answers and resolution through passing laws and persuading politicians to act. But sometimes the answer to bettering our world isn't by petitioning to governors or engaging in dead-end debates. Sometimes the answer is preventing the very people we trust to protect our society from teaching children that mass murder is acceptable, fun, and rewarding,

On February 16th The Holley, NY Fire Department will be hosting its 7th annual "Hazzard County Squirrel Slam", a literal mass murder competition rewarding citizens for senselessly shooting and killing squirrels, then weighing the corpses at a weigh-in at the Holley Fire Hall in town.

The competition has a number of categories for which prizes will be given out, including one described as "14 and Under." Weapons allowed at the event include AR/22 and Remington rifles, among more.

It's astonishing that something like this can still occur in our society. With the Holley Fire Department sponsoring the event and providing hundreds of dollars in prizes, it's despicable to know that children are continuously being raised as heartless murderers, and that a mass murder of squirrels can go virtually unnoticed, while a mass murder of humans is considered a tragic and inexplicable event.

Unfortunately the Holley Fire Department is not made up of heroes, but monsters.
