It is human nature to become distracted by those of whom that are around you. On the news, you see exposés about the fiscal cliff, unemployment, a mounting national debt, failing education, droughts and floods, kidnappings, and deaths. In your family life, you may have a relative in a tough situation, a parent that requires care, a child that needs a coat for the winter, or a sibling in need of a kidney. When you get to work, you have four bosses that all have different objectives, different deadlines, and different expectations. You feel like you are working four jobs, and getting paid for one. One which requires you to miss out on the good things in your life; whether your good moment is your family, the train set in the basement, or a simple drive home, when you realize you survived today and before you realize it's all about to happen for yet another day.

Challenge yourself. The news is relevant, but not for an anxiety boost. Tell your boss's superior, "I have one boss starting today. Who shall it be?" Make yourself go home when it is time to go home. Never again shall you miss the time so precious to you. Never again will you miss your child's first words. Never again will you miss the next great opportunity in your life.

I challenge you. Your family is important and do not hesitate to help a soul most in need of tender loving care, but you will be more suited to help someone else if you yourself is in a solid state of mind.

Sometimes it's best to step back and realize you have a wonderful life, but greatness comes from those who demand it; and you deserve it. Take charge of your life; it's your life. Be happy, it isn't hard, all you have to do is ask.
