    Tribute to Andre Cassagnes on an etch a sketch

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     When Jane37 heard the news of Andre Cassagnes' passing, she says she wanted to pay tribute to a great inventor. "My initial reaction was immediate sadness, but it also makes me happy to know that he lived a long life," she says. Playing with Etch A Sketch since she was four-years-old, Jane37 shares its been a toy that has always been in her househould. "It has always been for fun, but I started taking it as a serious medium for art about four years ago," she says. "I love doing all kinds of art, but there is something really unique to Etch A Sketch. It's one of those timeless toys that everyone seems to have some sort of nostalgic connection to."

    Andre Cassagnes, the inventor of the etch a sketch, recently passed away. I owe so much to this man. He's responsible for countless hours of joy and opening doors in my life that I never knew existed. Being an etch a sketch artist, one can imagine I am indebted to him.

    After a quick photo shoot of the completed piece, I decided to erase the image to where you can only see faded figments. In this way, it is as though he is leaving his legacy behind for future generations to enjoy.
