This iReport is part of an assignment:
Who taught you to love food?
Dubbed as the most important meal of the day, breakfast is a meal that should never, ever be skipped, no matter how busy the person is. It provides you the much-needed energy for the day, and being the first meal of the day, it should be filled with energy-giving and body-building foods, more so for those with active lifestyle. That’s the reason why most breakfast foods are usually consisting of carbohydrates like pancakes, waffles, breads, rice, and cereal. Protein sources are endless: eggs, meats, (bacon, sausages, etc), cheese, and dairy. This is usually accompanied by coffee for the much-needed caffeine energy jolt or tea.
For those with busy schedules, there is absolutely no excuse to skip breakfast. A quick breakfast of toasted bread with butter spread and cheese and some eggs on the side make a full meal already. Going at a new restaurant near the place you work will also give you a new food adventure to start the day. Cereal and milk is quite popular with children. For those who would like healthier options, oatmeal can be used for an added fiber boost. If the taste of oatmeal seem bland to some, throw in fresh fruits like blueberries, bananas, sliced apples, or strawberries and drizzle with maple syrup. These are quick breakfasts for busy people who need to go to work very early in the morning and still do a couple of chores.
Some restaurants server fruit plates which provide vitamins and nutrients needed for the day. They also cleanse the palate and are refreshing desserts or snacks at any time of the day. Bananas are filling fruits. For a sweet treat, try spreading peanut butter. Other fruits included can be sliced melons, apples drizzled with lemon juice, fresh peaches, and papaya for digestion. The popular drinks served during breakfast for adults is usually coffee. Whereas instant coffees are available nowadays, coffee that’s brewed has a lot of difference served with milk (full or skim, the choice is yours) and sugar. Just limit yourself to a cup a day, and follow by drinking a glass of warm water to prevent coffee from staining the teeth.
It’s best to in still the habit of eating breakfast everyday, and never skipping it. Your body will thank you for it, and it makes a whole lot of difference, especially for those who have a very active lifestyle, the menu choice depends on each individual’s personal preference and dietary health needs. Whether on the go or sit down and enjoy life as it is, there are a lot of choices for this most important meal of the day–just visit a breakfast buffet at a hotel or restaurant and get some ideas.
