"Ordinary" People we lost in 2013
CNN’s Photography section has a feature on “People we lost” each year, spotlighting celebrities that have died. While many people are interested in reading about actors, athletes, and politicians, we’ve lost some “ordinary” people who have made an extraordinary impact on our world. Wouldn’t it be nice to see some of these people recognized?
After a three-year battle with brain cancer, Sam Featherstone died on January 2, 2013. Throughout his battle, he inspired others with his courage and hope. Upon receiving news that his cancer had relapsed for the fifth time and that there were no more curative options, Sam used his final two months to raise awareness of and funds for pediatric brain cancer research. Through SamStrong: Search for the Cure, Sam raised over $200,000 for cancer research and touched the lives of many people with his message of “We all have the capability to make a difference in this world; we just have to be bold enough to do so.”
