Somewhere in Nowhere between Hermanus and Gansbaai in the Western Cape, South Africa is a small village named Stanford. And this village was recently awarded with "Best Village Destination in South Africa". But it is not only the village itself that attracts people (especially those from Cape Town) with some top restaurants, coffeeshops and wineries but especially the surroundings appeal to the concious traveler who avoids the known tourist traps. Stanford is synoniem for 'Heaven' when you ask nature lovers with a biotope that is endemic to most fynbos species like proteas. There are numerous hiking trails; over 150 different bird species are nesting in and around the Stanford Lagoon. But most important of all; the tranquility, the magnificent landscape, the wonderful sunsets, amazing waterfalls .... It's not a destination for action minded people; it's a place to come to peace with your inner self....
