    Apprentice Devil

    This young devil is being shown the ropes by dad at the Game of the Little Devils in Curré, Costa Rica. The game is a cultural and historical enactment of the battle between the local Brunkas and the invading Spanish. For three days the devils do very physical battle with the Spanish bull - a participant in a large heavy frame costume. In the end, they kill the bull, take his head, and burn him. The "meat" is distributed to the community by a comic character, the Butcher.
