Etch-A-Sketch: Encountering Lives
My name is Suzanne Borderies, and I am a 16 year old student at LaGuardia high school for Music and Art. Born in Paris and living in New york, I have always viewed the world in an artistic manner. As a young child, I loved the etch-a-sketch. I found it fascinating how easily one could make a line using this magical little red box, but never understood how exactly to turn the knobs until somewhat recently.
A couple of years ago, in 2010, I decided to make a stop motion film, including an etch-a-sketch into the story-line. After playing with my ideas for a while, I decided to create a film by taking photos to the best of my ability (though I was nowhere near being a brilliant photographer), choosing the characters from the French cartoon "Barbapapa" and making them clash with other made up characters. Mostly, my determination to accomplish something I previously had been unable to acheive was enough to help me finish this film (I was 13 at the time). So here it is, and I hope you enjoy it!
