Just from another corner !
A story of an Iraqi who volunteered to help the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom successful, a story of a doctor who found the hospital he was working in under looting on April 7th 2003, and he took the courage to get an ambulance next day late afternoon and drove with other people to find the American troops and put himself under huge risk and he was only 25 years old, not even yet; he didn't get their help at the beginning but next day, he found himself a liaison between the US Army 82nd AA and the Iraqis, volunteering himself, and taking the time of his rest, and for the next 2 weeks of hard work, to establish and to maintain the security in that city in the south of Iraq beside getting the humanitarian supplies to the hospitals; then after the 82nd left the city replaced by the Navy and Marines the 3/5, he work hard to make the wall of trust much stronger and off course he was working with HOPE, never cared about getting income from working with the Americans like the rest of interpreters, because he believed working FREE, is worth a lot and he is so grateful to liberate Iraq from the Saddam and his dictatorship; and he refused to get paid too because he is advancing the morals and making any job he was doing great without the distortion of the money, his work with 3/5 Marines was highly appreciated, this Iraqi fought the corruption in the Health system, and he started receiving death threats, and he continued working even with the Spanish Army after the leaving of his American friends, and then he found himself alone, realized that he is really ALONE, and nobody took care of him, then he decided to leave that city to Baghdad and got married, and again he got another torture and mistreatment from Iraqis and left again to the south of Iraq but again, he faced corruption and he fought it and he didn't stop communicating with his American friends, and all those threats were following him, until he moved to his last station in another hospital in south of Baghdad where the city is controlled by militias and infiltrated by Qeda Jihadists too; he received another threat in January 2007, and continued living under fears and horror and nobody is listening only one ex-Navy doctor who found herself responsible to help this Iraqi ally, and she did, she helped him for a special immigrant visa, but failed, because this Iraqi ONLY worked for 9 months and for free and have no recommendation from a General as the rules of that visa in 2007; BUT she took the risk to wire money to him to Iraq so he could leave and this Iraqi left Iraq alone, left his pains, family, and all the past experiences to the unknown, he went to India and applied for a visa to USA by the help of this American angel who continued supporting her brother, and he got the visa after staying 6 months in India and came where the real lights are, came to USA, and started his new struggle to get an Asylum, and he got it with the help of good people THE LIST PROJECT, and then his family arrived on the night of the Thanksgiving 2009 ! this guy saw a lot and suffered from a lot of traumas, he was a doctor in Iraq ! But what is he now ?
He is only a Emergency Department Technician at one of the Hospital in the East Coast, he couldn't study, and make a real progress, his life is full of tensions, he is seeing other medical residents from different countries like Saudi Arabia, and other International medical graduates getting through the system (their government supporting them) and he is still in his position and nobody supporting him, he is thinking the life is unfair, he helped a big NATION the United States of America and why they don't really help him, he thinks getting the Asylum is a right because there is no where to go, he is alone and has only this soil to stand on and he is an American by heart!; but getting some real help from this government is something a dream to pursue and even he tried his best in many direction and nobody listen to him, he is thinking his story is a DRAMA, but what kind of a drama and that American Angel spent over 20000 US$ to get him here, what kind of DRAMA when he is saying, he saw death thousands of times in Iraq, what kind of pressures he is tolerating this guy - let us examine his brain's pressure, can we just help him?, he is shy to ask and to knock any door, he is alone, even with his family, he is alone ! ! !
This Iraqi saw the truth from a different point of view, still defending Operation Iraqi Freedom and never agreed about the term INVASION but he was always saying Liberation, because he believed Iraq was invaded by Baath, occupied by the corrupt Tikriti family for the last 35 years prior to the war!
This guy is a human being, his name is Dr.Salam Al-Iraqi, Google him and read about his pseudonym or his blog or his upcoming book "My Road To Freedom" ! a book he wrote in Iraq when he was living the fear and then he found an American Historian Professor who read his rubbish English manuscript and she found that book is important for the American reader to understanding the new concept and just from another corner What is Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from the eye of Dr.Salam Al-Iraqi! - and look for more ! but he is just feeling alone ! !
