Big Bear Resort Subject of Police Manhunt
Big Bear Lake, CA - February 7, 2013 - The killing of two police officers in Riverside County triggered a Blue Alert throughout southern California. While the police pursued many leads, there was a report of a vehicle fire in the San Bernardino Mountains. The vehicle was a match from suspect Christopher Jordan Dorner.
The resorts have closed to snwboarders and skiers, and schools remain on lockdown. The is no bus transportation and parent will have to pick their children up at their school.
Officers are performing a door to door search for the suspect. Big Bear Lake is close to Los Angeles and San Diego. Many homes in the mountain are second homes, which can be vacant much of the time.
A low pressure system from the Pacific Northwest is expected to move into southern California over night. It will bring freezing temperatures to the mountain and four to eight inches of snow, making the SWAT Officers jobs that much more difficult.
